1955 Camera Gear

My Grandfather, who was a photographer back in the day, typed this letter in 1955 to insure his camera equipment. It’s pretty cool looking through the list of gear, and the price valuations. The insurer’s family randomly stumbled upon the letter while doing some house cleaning recently, and they sent it to our family after tracking us down on the internet. They also mentioned that the insurance policy was never officially filed, unbeknownst to my Grandfather. Ha!

Sunset Serendipity

I went out this afternoon to photograph a cool piece of art that has been catching my eye in Charlottesville, and was greeted by a spectacle of a sunset that became the perfect backdrop. I spent about an hour watching the light change and studying the angles of the tree. An textbook example of photographic serendipity.

Organic Wool Mill

If you thought wool mills were a thing of the past, well, you’re right – they kind of are. Organic wool mills on the other hand, are a thing of the present.

I went up to Montague, CA for Savvy Rest to document the organic wool mill that supplies their wool. It was pretty neat, especially given the stunning setting in the wide open land of Northern California.
