Back in May when I went on tour with The Infamous Stringdusters, their banjo player Chris Pandolfi came up with the idea of the “Banjo-Cam.” Like the name implies, the idea was an HD flip-camera mounted to Pandolfi’s custom banjo to grab video from a never-before-seen angle. Not a traditional practice, to say the least.
The Banjo-Cam has since morphed into the “IRIS” – a 6 camera rig on stage and on instruments with the ‘Dusters. Check out a video from the first rendition of the IRIS that Chris put together last week from their show at the High Sierra Music Festival, below.
Here’s a photo I took of the Banjo-Cam’s debut in Burlington, VT at Higher Ground on May 4, 2011. Quite the upgrade in technology in under 3 months!
